Joel S. Ketner, MS, IMFT-S

Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist- Supervisor

License: F 1400015 Ohio

I use authentic warmth, empathy, and insight to create an environment of connection and safety where my clients feel supported throughout their journeys. I strive to develop and maintain a genuinely collaborative therapeutic relationship, and to understand the unique therapeutic needs and goals of my clients. I utilize a systemic and integrative approach to therapy that is informed by best practices and tailored to meet the needs of each individual, couple, and family with whom I work.  I believe that every person has the fundamental capacity to grow and evolve.

Additionally, I believe that change only comes about through experience. Practicing different ways of understanding and interacting with your partner and/or family is essential to healing and finding a unique solution to your problems. As Albert Einstein once said: "All knowledge is experience, everything else is just information." My humble role as your therapist is to facilitate these experiences within a safe and nurturing therapeutic environment.

I am trained and experienced to provide services for a number of different problems people face in their relationships or as individuals. More commonly I help clients work through individual issues (such as depression, anxiety, coping with stress, etc.), couple issues (such as couple communication, marital dissolution, infidelity, relationship satisfaction, etc.), family issues (such as parenting, blended families, family relationship satisfaction, etc.) or child issues (such as defiance, school problems, behavioral problems, etc.).

I am a licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) with a Supervisor designation in the state of Ohio, and a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). I graduated from Oberlin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and Northwestern University with a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been practicing since 2008, and I look forward to working alongside my clients on a daily basis. I feel truly blessed and humbled to have the opportunity to share in the growth, transformation, and healing that my clients regularly experience.
